I got into running late (age 26) when asked to run the Hood to Coast relay in Oregon. I was horribly out of shape but fell in love with the sport, people, and competition, which motivated me to train for the race the following year. Two years later, In 1996, I ran my first marathon. The addiction hit hard, and I started working towards a Boston Qualifier. After my first Boston in 2004, things got out of hand, and I have now run over 100 marathons (including Ironman Triathlon (4) and Ultra-marathons (4)). One of the most incredible experiences was traveling and running 12 marathons in 12 months with my wife, Tiedji. I left the real "world of work" and started working at Shu's Idaho Running Company in 2006. I began coaching in 2008 and have been a certified USA Triathlon coach. These days I tend to stick to coaching myself and helping friends when I can. Helping friends at races lead to setting and certifying courses which I've done off and on since 2010. I continue to push myself (carefully) as I age and look forward to running and competing for the rest of my life.
